Xiaomi updates Watch 2 with Wear OS 4

Watch Update

Xiaomi has begun rolling out the Wear OS 4 update to its Watch 2 and Watch 2 Pro smartwatches. Users in several European countries, including the UK and Spain, have reported receiving the update on their devices. The update brings several changes and improvements to the smartwatches.

Users have noted new fonts and icons, as well as the addition of new watch faces. However, some Pixel watch faces are no longer supported after the update. According to user reports on Reddit, the update also includes bug fixes.

One specific issue that has been addressed is the Do Not Disturb mode failing to sync properly with connected phones.

Xiaomi Watch 2 update details

It is important to note that the skin temperature sensor on the Watch 2 Pro remains non-functional even after the update.

There is also no confirmation yet on whether the update will improve battery life, which has been a benefit seen in other smartwatches running Wear OS 4. The update process is quite substantial, with one user mentioning that it took over three hours to download and install. Users can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > System > Firmware update on their smartwatches.

As of now, Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the global rollout of the update. This suggests that it might be a phased rollout, with no clear timeline for when it will reach all users worldwide. The release of Wear OS 4 for the Xiaomi Watch 2 and Watch 2 Pro comes a few weeks after the update was made available for other smartwatch series.
