Race Watch

The Suunto Race is a rugged and feature-packed GPS sports watch. It comes in two sizes: the 49mm model and the smaller 45mm Race S version. The watch has a bold 1.43-inch AMOLED display.

It is protected by sapphire crystal glass for added scratch resistance. The Race is available in stainless steel or titanium. The titanium models weigh just 69 grams, while the stainless steel versions are 83 grams.

The Race is built to military-grade standards (MIL-STD-810H). It can withstand extreme temperatures and harsh conditions. This makes it reliable for challenging environments.

The watch has a large digital crown and two buttons for easy navigation. The AMOLED display is sharp and vibrant. This makes it easy to view metrics during intense workouts.

The Race provides advanced training metrics for athletes. These include heart rate variability (HRV), recovery status, and fitness insights. It has sensors like GPS, an altimeter, and a digital compass.

The watch offers over 95 sports modes. Users can even create custom modes to tailor their experiences. One practical feature is the inclusion of free, detailed offline maps.

The Race ensures market-leading GPS accuracy. It provides robust tools for planning routes and tracking progress. Battery life is impressive.

In its most accurate GPS mode, the watch lasts up to 40 hours on a single charge.

In daily mode, battery life extends to 26 days.

With all features enabled, the battery can last over ten days. Recharging takes just two hours. The Race is waterproof up to 100 meters.

It is suitable for swimming and freediving. The watch is also weather-resistant, withstanding temperatures from -20°C to +55°C. Suunto has made efforts towards sustainability.

Each watch is fully carbon offset through a reforestation project. The watch has a quick-release silicone strap. It is ventilated with holes for breathability.

The strap has a secure two-pin fastening. It can be easily swapped out for other 22mm watch bands. The Race is packed with health-tracking features.

It has a heart monitor, oxygen models, sleep tracking, and more. While mainly a fitness tracker, it also has some smartwatch functions. These include music control, call notifications, and the ability to send pre-defined message replies.

There are nearly 100 different pre-defined sports modes. Some unusual examples are roller skating, horseback riding, and mermaiding. The watch performed well in our tests for weight training and hiking.

However, we found some inconsistencies with swim distance tracking. Overall, the Suunto Race impresses with its rugged build, advanced features, and excellent battery life. It is a strong choice for serious athletes who need a reliable and capable sports watch.
