Sony returns to Intergeo with new drone tech

Sony Drone

Sony will be exhibiting alongside Gremsy and other partners at Intergeo, showcasing 360 solutions for drone operators. Sony is delighted to be returning for the second consecutive year to Intergeo, Stuttgart, 24-26th September, one of the leading platforms for the geospatial industry. Sony and Gremsy, a leader in gimbal technology, will be demonstrating the latest additions to their line-ups aimed at plug-and-play solutions for drone users and manufacturers.

The Pixy LR S-Port gimbal, developed for direct integration with Sony’s dedicated drone camera—the ILX-LR1—brings agility, reliability, and lightness to any drone payload to further optimize drone operation in terms of flight time and data capture. Gremsy, one of the most established gimbal manufacturers in the market, has closely collaborated with Sony over the past two years to develop all-in-one solutions for various use cases and drone platforms. These solutions are seamlessly integrated, lightweight, and compact, designed to optimize payload and minimize environmental footprint.

In response to the growing demand for high-quality imaging from professional and commercial drone users, Sony developed the ILX-LR1 camera by listening to partner and market feedback.

Bringing Sony imaging technology to the market in a lightweight form factor with dedicated features, the ILX-LR1 has become a significant addition for drone operators.

For the ILX-LR1 camera, Gremsy developed the PIXY LR gimbal with full customization capabilities for professional drone makers and the Pixy LR S-Port for users seeking a plug-and-play solution. In July this year, the PIXY MR gimbal was released, expanding ILX-LR1 gimbal possibilities to major drone platforms. This solution supports all compatible pilot, camera, and gimbal control functions and offers various lenses for excellent imaging.

The ILX-LR1 is built around a 61 Megapixel back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS imaging sensor and Sony’s BIONZ XR processors, capable of delivering images continuously at up to three frames per second for extended periods and up to 8 fps in burst mode if required. The camera body is compact, measuring 74 x 100 x 42.5mm and weighing 243g, with multiple screw mounts for flexible fitting options. Sony will be exhibiting in Hall 3, Stand D3.008 at Intergeo.
