HPE to acquire Morpheus Data for hybrid cloud management

Hybrid Cloud

Hewlett Packard Enterprise has entered into an agreement to acquire Morpheus Data, a management and platform operations specialist based in Colorado. The acquisition is expected to be finalized in early Q4 of HPE’s 2024 fiscal year. The financial terms were not disclosed.

Upon completion, Morpheus’ hybrid cloud management technology will be integrated into HPE’s GreenLake platform. This will add capabilities such as multi-vendor application provisioning, orchestration, automation, and financial operations capabilities for optimization. An HPE executive stated, “With the acquisition of Morpheus Data, we will take the next major leap to make HPE GreenLake cloud the de facto platform for innovating across hybrid IT.”

The acquisition is part of HPE’s efforts to future-proof GreenLake and ensure the platform can manage modern virtualized workloads.

With Morpheus’ technology onboard, customers will be able to orchestrate and automate the full lifecycle management of applications across hybrid environments.

This will enable them to provision and manage workloads across both traditional and modern cloud environments.

HPE also plans to combine its own multi-vendor IT data with Morpheus’ capabilities. This will help enterprises optimize their spending across cloud environments. While Morpheus’ technology will be integrated into the GreenLake cloud and HPE’s private cloud portfolio, it will also be available as a standalone software offering.

HPE confirmed it will continue to support Morpheus Data’s existing customers and partnerships. Brian Wheeler, co-founder and CEO at Morpheus Data, commented, “This acquisition is the result of a long-term relationship between HPE and Morpheus Data that has already proven successful with customers. Together, we will help more customers transform their multi-cloud, multi-vendor IT estates to thrive and innovate in this increasingly complex and fragmented IT landscape.”

The acquisition underscores HPE’s commitment to enhancing the GreenLake platform’s capabilities.

It aims to better serve enterprises in managing their diverse and evolving IT environments.
