Blizzard compensates WoW players for downtime

WoW Downtime

The launch of the World of Warcraft pre-patch for the upcoming expansion, The War Within, has been met with both excitement and frustration. Players eagerly dove into the new content, which includes Warbands, Skyriding, class updates, and a new questline called “Visions of Azeroth.” However, the first day of the pre-expansion update resulted in extended downtime for many players in North American realms. In response to the issues, Blizzard is offering one day of extra game time to every subscription in North America, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand for accounts that were active as of July 23, 2024.

The compensation is expected to be provided to affected players on or before August 15, 2024. Despite the rocky start, Blizzard is working to resolve any lingering issues to ensure a smooth player experience leading up to the launch of the expansion.

The War Within is set to release on August 26, with Early Access beginning on August 22. In addition to the pre-patch content, Blizzard has also released the official cinematic trailer for The War Within, titled “Shadows Beneath.” The trailer sets the stage for players to investigate the dark motives behind the Harbinger’s machinations and explore the depths of the Nerubian empire. As players prepare for the expansion’s release, Blizzard has outlined important dates and activities to keep in mind.

The current season of PvP content will end at 10:00 pm PDT the night before maintenance in each region, and players are encouraged to complete various activities around the Dragon Isles before rewards become unattainable or difficult to obtain when The War Within launches. With the global launch fast approaching, players hope that most of the issues encountered during the pre-patch will be resolved by then. Stay tuned for more updates and features as the release date draws near.
