AltStore PAL boosts app diversity in the EU

"App Diversity"

Riley Testut is stepping things up with AltStore PAL in the European Union, a new variant of his AltStore, made possible by the Digital Markets Act (DMA) legislation. The DMA is shaking up the digital world, encouraging more competition and diversity, and developers like Testut are seizing the opportunity.

The creation of AltStore PAL represents an effort to enhance the user experience, promising a wider spectrum of downloadable content, greater customization choices, and amped-up security measures. Testut is unambiguous in his mission to champion fair competition and prioritize user choice in the digital market.

Unlike its initial launch, AltStore PAL now also hosts apps from external developers. This development has been a game-changer, expanding the diversity of apps, and consequently, stirring up user engagement on the platform.

Expanding app diversity with AltStore PAL in EU

It’s not only an app lover’s dream but also a platform for emerging app developers to take center-stage and gain valuable user feedback.

With AltStore PAL 2.1, the doors are opened to even more diverse application offerings. The platform comes pre-equipped with four applications but allows users to add more to their collection via the integration of new sources. And there’s more – the platform pledges only to offer vetted apps that meet strict security standards, assuring users of quality and safety.

The AltStore PAL also breaks barriers by offering apps that typically don’t make it past Apple App Store’s proverbial bouncer, like torrent apps. Having such apps among the roster means a wider selection for users, opening new possibilities for functionality.

All iPhone users with iOS 17.4 or higher in the European Union can take advantage of AltStore PAL. But note that to counter the charges imposed by Apple, there is an annual subscription fee of €1.50.
