Jharkhand suspends mobile internet for JSSC exam

JSSC exam

The Jharkhand government has suspended mobile internet services across the state for five hours on Saturday and Sunday to prevent cheating during the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examination. The ban will be in effect from 8 am to 1:30 pm on both days. The decision was made after intelligence reports suggested that mobile internet could be used to facilitate malpractice during the exam.

The move aims to ensure a fair and smooth conduct of the examination process. Chief Minister Hemant Soren discussed the preparations with senior officials and emphasized strict measures against any wrongdoing. “Negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” Soren said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“If anybody tries to do something wrong during the examination, even by mistake, we will deal with them strictly.”

The JSSC will conduct the examination at 823 centers across the state, with approximately 6.39 lakh candidates expected to appear for the test. Authorities have assured that broadband and other wired internet services will remain unaffected, allowing essential services and businesses to continue their operations without interruption.

Candidates appearing for the exam have been advised to cooperate with the measures and adhere to the guidelines issued by the examination authorities to avoid any inconvenience. The move has received mixed reactions from the public. While some support the government’s decision to uphold the sanctity of the examination process, others have raised concerns about the potential disruption to daily life and communication.

The state administration has appealed to citizens to bear with the temporary inconvenience, emphasizing that the measure is critical to maintaining fairness in the recruitment process. As the JSSC exams are a significant step for many job aspirants in Jharkhand, the authorities are committed to ensuring that the exams are conducted in a transparent and just manner.
